The right worktop
is half your kitchen.
At least

In many ways, the worktop you choose will set the scene for family life in your kitchen for many years to come.

So there are a few important questions you should ask yourself about your worktop. How does
it add to the kitchen’s overall design and look? How does it feel? How hard-wearing is it?
How easy is it to keep clean? How and how often should it be maintained? And so on.

Three important considerations when choosing a worktop

1 Design

The worktop can have a huge influence on your kitchen’s overall appearance, and there are several options to choose from to create the style you want. For example, the material itself and the surface structure can play a key role. And the colour naturally helps define the design, in interaction with the shape and colour of the kitchen elements.
Another important design feature is the thickness of the worktop and the way it is fitted. The look will be affected by the appearance of the worktop. Should it be thick and striking or thin? And how should it be fitted? Perhaps to look like it is floating above the kitchen elements?

2 Function

Your kitchen worktop will have to put up with a lot over the next many years. Therefore, it is not usually a good idea to choose a worktop solely based on its design. Factors such as durability, hygiene, cleaning and maintenance are of key importance. The same applies to the worktop’s ability to resist heat and spills. In many cases, it can be a good solution – from both a design and a functional perspective – to combine two different worktops for different areas of the kitchen. And your kitchen specialist will help you with advice and guidance.

3 Sink

The third important factor, when selecting a worktop, is the kitchen sink. The options are countless, and if you allow DFI-Geisler to fit your sink in your kitchen worktop, you are sure to end up with a solution that will make daily use and cleaning wonderfully easy. Your choice of material determines how we fit the sink. For instance, the sink is always undermounted in a laminate worktop, so that the laminate covers the edge of the sink. If, on the other hand, you select a stone product, there are several options for fitting a sink. There are further details under the individual materials later in the guide.

Material types:

Fibertops®
Fibertops®

A great choice, if you want the best of both laminate and compact laminate.
You get the stylish look of compact laminate and the durable, hygienic and easy-care properties of laminate.
With Fibertops®, you’ll have plenty of options to find a design that matches your style – and at a reasonable price.

Keramik & Dekton
Ceramic
and Dekton®

A great choice; if you want an exclusive, stylish worktop with all of the features you could dream of. Ceramic and Dekton® worktops are colour-fast, easy-to-clean and thoroughly robust. You will have a worktop that is beautiful to look at – and a joy to work in – for years.

Natursten
Natural stone

A great choice, if you want a worktop created by nature over millions of years – which is completely unique. Natural stone gives you a worktop with an incredibly beautiful surface and with individual detail – colour, grain and shrinkage cracks – that gives it a personality of its own. And makes it your very own.
Natural stone is also perfect in combination with other materials such as solid wood and steel.

Laminat
Laminate

A great choice, if your worktop needs to suit active family life – and still be affordable.
Laminate is heavy-duty, very hygienic and easy to clean. And the sky’s the limit when it comes to colour, design and edging.

You can even choose a special laminate with a silk-matt finish that prevents reflections from the sun and greasy fingerprints.

Kompaktlaminat
Compact laminate

A great choice, if you want a kitchen with a light, furnished look. The 12 mm thin worktop is very suitable for ‘floating’ installation. The worktop is fitted so that it looks like it is floating above the kitchen elements, giving a sophisticated and distinctive look. Compact laminate is also almost indestructible and it will give you pleasure for many years – both to look at and to use in busy kitchen.

Massivtræ
Solid wood

A good choice, if you want to give your kitchen natural glow and warmth.
And due to the broad selection of wood and finishes, it will be no trouble to find a shade and look to complement the rest of your kitchen.
Solid wood is also suitable for combining with other worktop materials, such as natural stone and steel, and with a solid wood bridge solution, you can create a beautiful focal point for your family's shared kitchen experiences.

Kompositsten
Composite

A great choice, if you want the best of both worlds. Composite makes a beautiful worktop. It is made of miminum 90% quartz minerals and, aesthetically, has the look of a genuine natural product.
Pulverised stone is mixed with an artificial resin adhesive and cast in moulds. Contrary to natural stone, the surface is completely sealed, preventing grease and other substances from penetrating the material and causing stains. In other words, you get the exclusive look of natural stone and innovation’s effective product features, in one worktop.

Linoleum
Linoleum

A great choice, if you want an elegant surface, which is renowned for its durability and is the epitome of high quality, design and natural ingredients. Linoleum is a sustainable choice. Linoleum combines a satin-matt finish with a delicate, warm texture, giving each worktop a very characteristic, individual and quite unique design and look.
And the structure and surface of the linoleum give the material an attractive sheen with time.

Stål
Steel

A great choice, if you want a super-hygienic, highly practical and eternally modern worktop, which gets more beautiful almost day-by-day as scratches appear and the steel takes on its natural patina. Steel is also an environmentally friendly material, which never perishes – a steel worktop will cope with almost anything and screams out to be used.
Day after day.

Preferences and needs vary.

And so do our worktops.
