What is natural stone and marble?<\/h4>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Natural stone is volcanic rock, consisting mainly of three minerals: quartz, feldspar and muscovite. The latter is a shiny mineral and the main component that gives natural stone its irresistible sparkle \u2013 like looking into myriads of shining stars.\u00a0Natural stone is mined in large blocks, which are then sawn and cut precisely to the required size, to the millimetre. The resulting worktop is then sanded and polished.\u00a0Marble is also a type of rock. It is formed when limestone is recrystallised. What is quartzite?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Quartzite is a naturally occurring stone that gains its name from its high quartz content.<\/p>\n

Quartzite is harder than natural stone and marble and has an attractive and variegated veined structure, giving it an exclusive look.<\/p>\n

Quartzite quality description<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Large variations occur naturally in quartzite.<\/p>\n

The hand samples shown to end customers for these stone types, do not necessarily give an accurate picture of the appearance of the finished countertop.<\/p>\n

Daily use<\/h4>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Natural stone, quartzite and marble, all have a porous surface with natural shrinkage cracks and small holes. This means that cooking grease, for example, will soak into the surface and stains may appear. For this reason, natural stone, quartzite and marble should regularly be impregnated, with FILA MP90 or treated with stone oil.<\/p>\n

Contrary to popular belief, natural stone, quartzite and marble are only able to withstand moderate heat. Hot pans and dishes must therefore always be placed on a trivet or table mat. Otherwise, the heat may cause the grease in the worktop to rise to the surface and stain \u2013 or, in the worst case, cause the worktop to crack.<\/p>\n

Daily cleaning is easy. Simply use a soft cloth wrung out in warm water. In most cases, this is all that is needed to restore hygienic conditions in your kitchen. If needed, however, most cleaning agents can be used on natural stone and quartzite. You must be more careful with marble.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Each worktop in natural stone, quartzite, or marble is one of a kind \u2013 showcasing its own unique interplay of colours and distinctive veining that lends it a refined and individual character.
\nThe surface can be finished in different ways, depending on the desired look. For instance, a polished finish offers a smooth and glossy surface, while a honed surface delivers a more natural, matte appearance \u2013 though it may require slightly more maintenance.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1534410467435{margin-top: 40px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Colours and textures<\/h4>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Natural stone, quartzite and marble are created by nature. Therefore, colour and texture solely depend on the quarry and mountain range from which the block was mined. At DFI-Geisler, we offer many colour variants of natural stone, whereas the selection of marble and quartzite is smaller – all matching contemporary trends. For some of the natural stone, you can select a polished, satin-polished or honed surface. There can be a significant difference.
\nMarble are always delivered honed. Fitting the sink<\/h4>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]The sink in a natural stone or marble worktop, can be fitted in three different ways, each producing its own specific aesthetic look. In addition, a minor number of sinks can be fitted “unified”. This is a beautiful solution, where the sink is integrated into the worktop. If you don’t know which sink mounting to choose, your retailer will be happy to help.<\/p>\n
