Yet emissions continue to increase, year on year.<\/span><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Almost 75% of global emissions come from energy produced using fossil fuels. The transition to renewable energy therefore plays a crucial role in our efforts to combat climate change.<\/span><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">One of the key principles of the DFI-Geisler strategy is a shift \u201cfrom fossil to sustainable\u201d. This means that we replace fossil resources with sustainable ones wherever possible.<\/span><\/h5>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;22631&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; style=&#8221;vc_box_shadow_3d&#8221; css_animation=&#8221;fadeInRight&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1614264978180{margin-top: 60px !important;}&#8221;][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The most visible result of this strategy is our use, since 2019, of green electricity from Nordic hydropower plants \u2013 produced without emission of CO<sub>2<\/sub>.<\/span><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Even though our electricity is climate-friendly, we constantly strive to reduce consumption in order to contribute further to climate action. And it is this energy that a hydropower plant exploits to produce green electricity. Once precipitation and water vapour from the sea have accumulated in the high-lying reservoirs in the Norwegian fells, the large volumes of water are directed through the power plant\u2019s turbines on the way down the mountain. The water makes the turbine spin, transferring much of the energy from the water to the turbine. The principle is similar to that of a wind turbine.
